After earning my BTEC National Diploma in Popular Music from the Walsall College of Arts & Technology I went on to study at the prestigious London Guitar Institute where I was taught by the likes of Shaun Baxter and Ian Scott. I went on to receive my BA Honours degree in popular and classical music from the University of Wolverhampton.
I have performed for a number of local bands and have composed music for several short films including Porphyria’s Lover and David. I have close to 10 years experience both teaching private lessons and working for an established music tuition shop. I am also DBS (CRB) certified.
I teach a wide variety of styles for both electric and acoustic guitar including: rock, metal, jazz, blues, folk, fusion, pop and funk. I teach all techniques from beginner to advanced levels for both lead and rhythm playing, including fingerstyle. I also specialise in advanced music theory which I teach in a practical and easy to understand way.
"I took up guitar lessons about 50 years too late and with no innate talent. Whatever your aspirations are with guitar and regardless of your chosen style and current ability, I would highly recommend Ryan as a patient and conscientious teacher."– Roy
I have experience tutoring students who are working towards grade exams for Trinity, RGT, and Rock School.
I teach both online and in person from a comfortable home studio environment. All lessons are supplemented with the required literature.
